Nicolae Ceban, who won two bronze medals at the European Wrestling Championships so far, didn’t manage to climb on to the winner’s rostrum in Russia. The 32-year-old wrestler suffered two defeats, IPN reports.
In the quarterfinals, Ceban lost 0-10 to the future silver medalist Sharif Sharifov of Azerbaijan, who became Olympic champion in 2012 and won bronze at the Rio Olympics in 2016. In the match for the bronze medal, Ceban was defeated by Turkey’s Serdar Boke 4-6.
In freestyle wrestling, Alexandru Burca finished fifth. In the match for bronze in the 79 kg weight class, he was beaten by Hungary’s Mihaly Nagy 1-8.
