CC postpones examination of challenge concerning name of official language

The Constitutional Court (CC) informed in a communiqué that it will interpret Article 13 of the Constitution regarding the name of the official language in Moldova on a later date. A challenge to this effect was filed by MP Ana Gutu. The meeting was initially set for September 12. The reasons for the delay and the new date of the meeting were not communicated.

Contacted by IPN, Ana Gutu said she was informed that the meeting was put off in the morning of September 11, but wasn’t told the reasons.

Article 13 of the Constitution says the official language of the Republic of Moldova is Moldovan, based on the Latin script.
