CC: Parliament can be dissolved if Government is not formed during three months

Moldova’s Parliament can be dissolved if a Government is not formed during three months. On November 24, the Constitutional Court (CC) decided that the impossibility of forming a Government during three months leads to the dissolution of the legislative body even if this period forms part of the last six months of the term in office of the President of Moldova, IPN reports.

The request to interpret the Constitution was made to the CC by a group of Socialist MPs. The Constitutional Court’s decision is definitive and cannot be challenged. It comes into force when it is adopted and is published in the Official Gazette.

The Cabinet headed by Lib-Dem Valeriu Strelet was dismissed on October 29.
