The Constitutional Court’s decision over the interpretation of the Constitution’s provisions concerning the fulfillment of the constitutional obligations by the President is offensive to Igor Dodon and to society. The issue was developed in the program “Key issue” on NTV Moldova channel, IPN reports.
Politologist Ernest Vardanean said the CC’s decision is offensive to President Igor Dodon because the CC would have interpreted another article of the supreme law of the state. “I perceive this situation as a dirty show because the legal norms that can be interpreted are violated,” said Ernest Vardanean.
The President’s adviser on legal matters Maxim Lebedinski said the CC’s judgment is offensive not only to the President, but to the whole country. From legal viewpoint, the Court’s judges not only interpreted the supreme law of the state, but also laid down new rules. They set deadlines and procedures that are not stipulated in the Constitution,” he noted.
Journalist Valeriu Demidetski said the early parliamentary elections are a solution to all the created problems. Currently, it is not suitable for the government to remove Igor Dodon from the presidency.
The Constitutional Court decided that the President’s refusal to fulfill his constitutional obligations is a reason for temporarily removing him from office. The post of President in the period is held on an interim basis by the Speaker of Parliament or the Prime Minister so that the constitutional obligation of the President could be fulfilled.
