The former deputy head of the General Police Inspectorate Gheorghe Cavcaliuc said he wasn’t summoned to the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) so far and he learned about the restart of the legal proceedings against him from the press.
In a video published on Facebook, Gheorghe Cavcaliuc said that he today ascertained that justice in Moldova continues to be made on TV. He noted these actions are a political order. Moreover, he knows who makes the orders, in what circumstances and why. But he didn’t provide other details, IPN reports.
Gheorghe Cavcaliuc, who is also the leader of the Party “We Build Europe at Home”, said this order comes also in connection with his political activity as the resumption of procedures and the institution of new proceedings were decided two years after he left his post. In his career, he has never been punished.
The PGO on February 15 announced that it annulled the ordinances not to take legal action against the former deputy head of the General Police Inspectorate that were issued earlier by the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office and ordered to resume the legal proceedings. It also ordered to start two new criminal cases over abuse of power.
