Cause of poisoning at Cioc-Maidan school made public

The students from Cioc-Maidan village in Gagauzia got poisoned with Staphylococcus aureus. The bacterium was found in a type of the food prepared at the local cooking facilities, IPN reports, with reference to the National Food Safety Agency.

The cooking facilities remain closed and general sanitation activities are being carried out there. National Food Safety Agency director general Vladislav Cotici said a number of students are still in the hospital, but are out of danger.

The food poisoning case was reported on March 3, after the students had lunch at school. As many as 120 children were consulted at home and 35 were hospitalized.
