Cattle in Moldova will get ID cards when born, while all animals across the country will be identified through an ID number through the application of identification tags (means of identification made of plastic material) or other methods of identification, including electronic data. The Government approved this week a Law regarding the procedures and documents relevant to the Animals Identification and Registration System (SIIA). The normative act establishes activities, competencies, tasks, responsibilities, documents regarding the implementation and functioning of the SIIA on Moldova’s territory. Moreover, a Register of animal exploitation will be created, component part of the SIIA, in electronic format and will encompass information on identifications of all animal exploitation cases across Moldova. Keepers will have the obligation to inform the state veterinary, in a maximum of 7 days, about the birth, purchase, sale, movement, death, disappearance of cattle.
