Catalogue of occupations of Moldova extended

Ten large groups of occupations, divided into 96 subgroups, were included in the catalogue of occupations of Moldova, under a Government decision. Minister of Labour, Social Protection and Family Valentina Buliga said that this is a first step towards compiling a new register intended to substitute the current catalogue that has been used since 1998 and is outdated, IPN reports.

“The need to produce a new catalogue derives from the appearance of new occupations, following the changes made in the socioeconomic sector and the introduction of new research and development activities,” said the minister.

According to Valentina Buliga, the catalogue will be mandatory for the central and local public administration bodies, regardless of their form of ownership, and for the employers and trade union organizations when filling out ocuments where it is required to specify the occupation. The new catalogue will be a useful instrument in studying demographic phenomena and trends on the labour market.
