The number of cases of COVID-19 in the education system of Chisinau has grown. As many as 200 students and 36 employees of 56 education intuitions of the capital city got infected, the deputy head of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport Andrei Pavaloi stated in the weekly meeting of municipal services, being quoted by IPN.
On October 7, 111 out of the 131 municipal schools organized the education process with the physical presence of students, while 20 schools applied the mixt learning method, with physical presence and with remote learning. In total, over 3,300 students studied remotely.
Andrei Pavaloi said the morning triage in schools continues to be performed. The foreigners’ access is banned as is the holding of festivities or public events in institutions and in their courts. The extracurricular activities are prohibited by internal orders.
Physical distancing in classes is a problem. There are cases when parents confirmed with COVID-19 allow their children to go to school even if these didn’t take a test to see if they contracted the infection or not.
The municipality of Chisinau is on red alert that is issued when the incidence is of over 250 cases per 100,000 people.
