Five cases of acute diarrheal diseases among children were reported at kindergarten No. 113 of Chisinau municipality. During December 7 – 13, four children became ill with acute gastroenteritis and a child suffered food poisoning. The sick children are aged between two and six, IPN reports.

In a press release, the Ministry of Health says the state of health of the children is now satisfactory. Four of these were hospitalized, while one child is being treated in ambulatory conditions.

As a result of a surprise visit at the given kindergarten, specialists of the Chisinau Public Health Center identified a number of irregularities, including crowdedness and use of damaged and inappropriately treated plates and dishes. There were cases when clinical signs of acute diarrheal diseases appeared during the day and the children weren’t isolated on time to prevent infection.

For the identified irregularities, the officials in charge will be penalized. Group No. 1 (crèche) was closed, while the epidemiological and medical surveillance investigation goes on.
