Case over largest quantity of contraband cigarettes seized sent to court
The Prosecutor General's Office (PG) remitted the criminal case concerning the smuggling of over 700,000 packets of Moldovan “Doina”, “Plugarul” and “MT” cigarettes, which were seized on March 5, 2010 at the Romanian border crossing point Albita after the truck passed through the Leuseni customs post, to the Hancesti court for examination, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the PG's press service.
In this case, the prosecutors charged three private individuals - Veaceslav Procopisin, Andrei Moraru, and Victor Maxim – and three employees of the Customs Service - Fiodor Ambrosii, Vasile Francu, and Roman Nacu. The accused are liable to three to ten years in jail.
The criminal case was started on March 6, 2010. The seized contraband cigarettes are worth over 2 million lei.
