Case on illegal use of Moldcell and Orange networks remitted to court

Three persons accused of illegally accessing the telecommunications networks and services of Orange and Moldcell will stand trial. According to the Prosecutor General’s Office (PG), the damage caused to the two mobile phone carriers was estimated at over 3 million lei, Info-Prim Neo reports. The PG says that over 40 searches were performed at the houses of the suspects at the end of last year. There were questioned more than 100 persons and done 25 judicial and technical-scientific examinations. There were identified GSM equipment, informational systems, SIM cards, contracts for the provision of services and other things used by the offenders. The three persons are accused of signing contracts for the provision of mobile phone services in exchange for recompense, including from citizens of Romania. They are also accused of purchasing, activating and making available personalized or nonpersonalized SIM cards of Orange and Moldcell. The evidence collected against the Romanians, who are also suspected of money laundering, will be transmitted to the competent authorities of Romania so that they deal with this case. The case will be examined by the Buiucani court.
