A case of measles was confirmed in a child who returned with his family from a vacation spent in the mountains in Ukraine. In the ordinary meeting of officials of municipal services, the head of the General Medical and Social Assistance Division Vladimir Bolocan, said that the case was reported last week, IPN reports.
The official said the child's father has symptoms of measles, but the examination result is not yet final.
Cases of measles were reported in unvaccinated families who returned from a mountain vacation in Ukraine, Vladimir Bolocan said, reiterating the importance of vaccination. He noted that in case of high fever in children, parents should contact the doctor immediately and not resort to self-treatment.
The amalgam of viruses circulating now is quite diverse and each case must be consulted with the family doctor or pediatrician, warned the head of the General Medical and Social Assistance Division.
As many as 3,625 visits to emergency units were recorded last week, by 86 fewer than the previous week. As for influenza, the AH1N1 virus (55% of cases) and the type B virus (34%) predominate.
