The former chairman of the Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC) Gheorghe Gorincioi will stand trial for passive corruption. The Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office completed the investigation and sent the case to the Centru district court, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the institution.
According to the communiqué, in January 2011, the accused, together with the former head of the BCC’s Administrative Division, asked for 110,000 lei from a company for not carrying out inspections to determine the quality of the goods and the volume of services provided under the acquisition contract signed with the Council. The two were caught in the act at the BCC’s head office on January 21, 2011, immediately after receiving the money.
This May, the former head of the Administrative Division Terentie Cherdivara was sentenced to seven years in jail, fined 20,000 lei and banned from holding public posts for a three-year period.
