Case of deputy commissioner of Calarasi remitted to court
The Prosecutor’s Office of Ungheni district ordered sending the criminal case opened against the deputy police commissioner of Calarasi to court. The deputy commissioner is accused of breaking traffic rules and causing the death of one of his colleagues, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
The accident happened near Cornesti village, on the Ungheni – Chisinau road, on October 27, 2009. It was established that being under the influence, the deputy commissioner lost control of the pool car, in which there was an inferior officer. The car skidded and ran into the building of the former water pumping station of Cornesti. The passenger died on the spot.
Immediately after the accident, the deputy commissioner was taken to the hospital, but he refused to give blood for the alcohol test.
According to the prosecutors, though there are incontestable proofs showing he is guilty, the deputy commissioner maintains he wasn't in the car that night and the vehicle was driven by the officer who died.
