Case concerning rape for which Gheorghe Petic was framed sent to court

The criminal case concerning the rape for which activist Gheorghe Petic, a former employee of the Ministry of the Interior, was framed and was later acquitted was sent to court. It features former employees of Division No. 5 of the National Investigation Inspectorate, IPN reports.

“In this first case sent to court for examination, two persons accused of complicity in abuse of office in the interests of a criminal organization will stand trial,” said the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases.

The case of rape was fabricated in Ungheni in 2018. For their deed, the two persons were rewarded with tens of thousands of lei. Other persons involved in this case continue to be investigated. In October 2021, the investigation bodies said that six former and current employees of the Ministry of the Interior were arrested on suspicion that they framed Gheorghe Petic, who accused senior state officials of corruption in 2018.
