Case concerning protests before Parliament Building transferred to Rascani Court

The Centru District Court, which was to pass judgement over the lawsuit filed by the Chisinau City Hall against the Party of Socialists (PSRM), the "Our Party" (PPPN) and the Platform "Dignity and Truth" on September 26 decided to transfer the case to the Rascani District Court, IPN reports.

In the hearing, the representatives of the PSRM said that according to the legislation, the sides have the right to ask that the case should be examined by the court resposible for the area where one of the defendants has the address. According to them, the Platform "Dignity and Truth" didn't indicate an address and thus the case should be examined based on the address of the PSRM or PPPN. The representatives of the PSRM asked transferring the case given that the party's head office is located at 148/1 Columna St, which is in Rascani district.

The representatives of the Platform "Dignity and Truth" said they indicated the home address of one of the members of the Platform  where the citation was to be sent. They consider that by such a request, the Socialists aim to delay the trial given that the protest is to take place tomorrow, September 27.

Members of the PSRM and PPPN submitted a preliminary application asking authorizing a protest in the square before the Parliament Building on September 27 to the Chisinau City Hall. But the Platform “Dignity and Truth” filed a similar application earlier. Given that an agreement as to the holding of the protests wasn’t reached and following an application from the State Guard and Protection Service, which requested not authorizing demonstrations on that place because the legislation on the protection of the territory adjoining the Parliament Building is violated, the local authorities decided to file a lawsuit.
