Cars with over 70 Moldovan citizens who were stuck on the border between the Russian Federation and Ukraine crossed the border of Ukraine and are heading for Moldova, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration stated following a telephone conversation between the foreign affairs ministers of Moldova and Ukraine and the approaches made by Moldova’s Embassy in Kiev, IPN reports.
In a press release, the Ministry said that Minister Oleg Țulea and his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba decided to establish a direct communication channel so as to swiftly solve the problems encountered by citizens of the two countries in this period of crisis caused by COVID-19. It was also agreed to ensure the transit through Ukraine of Moldovans who remained stuck on the border on March 17.
Contacted by IPN for a comment, press officer of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection Cristina Stratulat said that these citizens are examined when they cross the border and are placed in quarantine at home. They will be supervised by the family doctor.
