Cars parked under trees in Ciocana and Râșcani should be moved away

The citizens of Chisinau are urged not to park the vehicles under trees. After the recent torrential rain with high winds, more branches can yet fall onto cars. The parked cars bock the access of municipal special vehicles that are involved in cleaning works following the thunderstorm, mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban told a news conference.

“We ask you to move away the private cars by this Sunday as we need to intervene with large trucks. There are many hanging branches that pose a threat. Furthermore, the trucks and other special vehicles cannot enter the yards of apartment buildings as there are a lot of parked cars there. Yesterday, we didn’t manage to get to one third of courtyards and work owing to the cars parked there,” said the mayor, addressing in particular the people living in Râșcani and Ciocana districts.

Ion Ceban noted that the done damage and the costs of repair works were estimated at 17 million lei, but the assessments go on. It goes to damaged roofs, inundated basements and homes. Over 50 poles were downed in Chisinau. Only 13 of them can be put back. There were also downed 585 trees and this is serious.

Over 1,200 employees of the responsible municipal services were yesterday involved in cleaning works, primarily in Râșcani and Ciocana districts. The municipality also contracted private services for dealing with the consequences of the heavy showers. The main streets are cleaned the first. The access ways to social facilities and the yards of apartment buildings are the next.
