Carriers ask Government to increase allowances for travelers with concessions
The carriers working on suburban and interurban routes requested the Government to raise the allowances for transporting passengers who benefit from concessions or to provide nominal compensations to these persons so that they purchase tickets themselves.
Eugen Datsko, executive director of the National Carriers’ Union, has told Info-Prim Neo that 100 million lei was allocated from the 2011 state budget for the purpose, but the sum did not cover the costs. The remaining debts were transferred for 2012. A sum of 500 million lei was earmarked for this year, but it includes compensations for air and railway transport.
”There are also persons who have false traveling permits and they are rather impudent. But the drivers should not check the authenticity of these documents,” Eugen Datsko said in the meeting of the National Commission for Collective Negotiations and Consultations.
Those who are entitled to travel gratis by suburban and interurban units of transport include the police officers and employees of the State Guard Service, servicemen employed on a contract at the Border Guard Service and officers of the Security and Information Service. Among those who benefit from travel allowances are the war invalids and veterans, personnel of the command bodies and employees of the internal affairs bodies, the penitentiary system and the state security bodies, who became invalids when fulfilling their duties.
