A horse-drawn cart was hit by a car on Friday night in Rublența, Soroca district. The coachman, 58, was hospitalized with serious injuries.
The local police said that the car driver, a 38-year-old man, failed to give the carriage enough room on the road.
The police also found that both the driver and the coachman had been drinking. Breathalyzer results indicated 1.31 mg/l of alcohol for the driver and 1.04 mg/l for the coachman.
The driver has been arrested for 72 hours as the investigation continues.
