The charity foundation “Caritas Moldova”, besides the social services that it provides at present, will also launch soon a project to socially support children and young people in difficulty. The announcement was made by Caritas Moldova director Andrei Bolocan at the ceremony to inaugurate the new head office of the foundation, IPN reports.
Andrei Bolocan said the program, intended for children and young people from socially deprived families, including those who live on the street, will last for three years. Emphasis will be placed on the development of the beneficiaries’ learning abilities and on their professional orientation. The new services, as the old ones, will be provided at a much higher level now that they moved to a new office.
“During many years, our foundation had been based in a building whose possibilities didn’t allow us to offer the people the necessary assistance, in accordance with the requirements of time. By providing social services, we will contribute to social equity and to the protection of human dignity to a greater extent,” stated Andrei Bolocan.
Attending the ceremony to inaugurate the new building, Shannon Pfohman, head of the Policy and Advocacy Unit of “Caritas Europa”, said the foundation sincerely pledged to fight poverty and social exclusion and to promote human development and social equity. “This change to a new area should ensure a favorable environment for fulfilling the mission for those who are disfavored in the Republic of Moldova. Caritas listens to people who are in poverty or in difficult situations, sees the social reality and its impact on the life of people,” said Shannon Pfohman.
The religious catholic mission “Caritas Moldova” was registered on May 10, 1995. On June 2, 2015, the mission was reorganized into the charity foundation “Caritas Moldova”. The foundation’s beneficiaries are now elderly people with minimum sources of livelihood, people without a shelter or with disabilities, persons who are incurably ill or suffer from serious diseases. The foundation has 11 subdivisions on the territory of the Republic of Moldova.
