Careless smoking kills again
A devastating fire claimed the lives of two – a woman, 72, and her son, 47, and burnt down their house and belongings, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to Firemen and Rescue Service (FRS) the fire broke out on May 14 in Raculesti village, Criuleni, and was caused by a lit cigarette.
The fires that took place last week (May 7-14) resulted in a casualty, while other 6 got burns and carbon monoxide intoxications.
Overall, during the reported period, there were registered 56 fires in Moldova. 13 cases were caused by short-circuits and 10 by burning cigarettes. 8 fires were caused by children. The fires destroyed 6 houses and affected 11 afferent buildings.
According to FRS data, from the beginning of 2007 and up to this moment, there were 1050 fires registered in Moldova that killed 98 persons, including 5 children.
