Careless smoker got severe burns on 90% of his body
A 35 year old man from town Leova received severe burns on 90% of his body in a fire caused by a lit cigarette.
According to the PR officer of the Fire Department, Liliana Puscasu, the fire took place on Sunday, August 12. When fire-fighters started extinguishing the fire it has already spread in two of the rooms. The man was immediately admitted to hospital. The damage is estimated at 20,000 lei.
Fires have been spotted this week-end in Busila village (Ungheni district) as well, where a man set fire to his own place, splashing it with gasoline. The house with a surface of 60 sq. metres burned down to ground.
According to the Fire Department, in the first 13 days of August, 90 fires were recorded, in which one person died. This year fires killed 113 persons, including 5 children.
