Ion Rusu, the manager of “Caravita” – a company specialized in the purchase of farmland and agricultural works – will continue to stay under arrest. The Chisinau Appeals Court on November 4 rejected the appeal filed by the lawyers, who asked quashing the first court’s decision to extend the arrest warrant against Rusu for 90 days, IPN reports.
A week ago, the Buiucani Court of Chisinau extended the arrest warrant for 90 days following the expiration of the 20-day warrant issued earlier.
This July, four persons from the administration of “Caravita” were arrested on suspicion of involvement in money laundering that resulted in considerable damage to Banca de Economii. The second manager of “Caravita” Igor Chijov and the company’s financial director Tatiana Rosioru also remain under arrest. “Caravita” founder Vladimir Rusu was placed under house arrest.
