The car insurance market remains monopolized, although more tan a year has passed since modifying the law regulating the area, finds an expert with the IDIS Viitorul think tank, Alexandru Zgardan, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. According to a press release issued by the institute, it’s worrying that the news insurance tariffs have not been enacted yet. “The rights of the insured go on being breeched. Although the new law pursued to balance the market and to establish new clear game rules, transparent for all, the cases of unfair competition and not paying the damages are frequent. The new methodology of establishing the amounts of the insured, although efficient, seems hard to implement,” Zgardan said. The author of the research finds that insurances for damages caused by cars weigh the most (23%), the Green Cards insurances account for 22%, while the insurance on passenger transportation hardly reaches 1%. As for the damages caused by cars, the IDIS expert underlines that although the new calculating methodology implies that everyone will win, in fact generates lots of question marks. “The limits on damages mean the insured person cannot ask for unlimited damages. There is a limit of 350,000 lei for damage to health,” Alexandru Zgardan said, adding that the insured do not know their rights. The Green Card insurance is steadily up. But the author warns of numerous fake contracts that are still issued, although only four companies are authorized to issue such insurances.
