A Volkswagen Bus, parked in a courtyard in Lipcani town, caught fire and burnt completely before the fire brigade came. The incident happened on June 24. The causes of the incident are not known so far. The press officer of the Fire and Emergency Service, Liliana Puscasu, has told Info-Prim Neo that most probably the fire was lit by a short circuit. When the Lipcani firefighters reached the place, the car was in flames. The contained the fire which could have spread onto the house and nearby buildings. Two young people of 20 years have been rescued by their colleagues in a dormitory on Gheorghe Casu str. They forced the door of the room where the youths were, after smelling smoke and burning gas. Both were intoxicated with carbon monoxide emanated from a mat lit by a cigarette. The press officer says the fires in households have increasingly grown in number these days. The reason is deemed to be the negligence in using open fire. On Tuesday, 5 fires of this kind happened. Since the beginning of the year, in Moldova, 963 fires have been registered: 5 a day on average. 155 fires affected buildings, 70 -- cars. Most of the fires were caused by open flames, embers or sparks from ovens, electric short circuits, and children playing with fire.
