Capital's mayor accuses government of not transferring money for teachers' salaries

Some of the capital's teachers may not receive their December salaries, the capital's mayor announced in a speech. Ion Ceban accuses the government of not having transferred the money for teachers' salaries and bonuses to the municipality, IPN reports.

"Out of 200 million that, according to the law, should be transferred to the municipality to pay teachers' salaries and bonuses - only 36 million lei have been transferred", the capital's mayor said. The mayor argues that teachers' salaries are the obligation of the central public authorities, not local ones.

The Ministry of Education and Research came up with a reply to the mayor's accusations".All salary obligations will be respected, the rectification procedure is standard and takes place every year. We urge the mayor not to misinform and to ensure the proper management of the municipality", said Minister Dan Perciun.
