The municipal public newspaper “Capitala” will be closed on August 1. The employees will receive redundancy payments of three national average salaries for the period during which they will be looking for another job, IPN reports.

In the July 25 meeting of the Chisinau Council, Finance Division head Veronica Herta said that 136,000 lei was allocated from the municipal budget for the purpose. The money was earmarked half a year ago. The offices of the paper’s editorial office will be leased out.

A sum of 1.5 million lei was allocated from the municipal budget yearly for printing the paper and paying its staff.
