A man from Cantemir, in extremely critical condition, was flown by helicopter to Chișinău last night. The man had burns on over 80% of his body and was admitted to intensive care. The operation was carried out by SMURD Romania.

The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations said that during the flight the man was monitored by the SMURD crew of doctors and paramedics and suffered no further complications. Upon landing, he was picked up by a team of doctors from the Dinamo stadium and transported to the Combustion Center of the Traumatology and Orthopedics Clinical Hospital in Chișinău.

Hospital spokeswoman Rorida Racu said that upon admission, the patient was diagnosed with hypovolemic shock, burns on over 80% of the body surface and second-degree airway burns. "He is in extremely critical condition. The patient is being treated in intensive care and resuscitation", said the official.

Since the beginning of the year, this is the ninth SMURD Romania aero-medical intervention carried out for the benefit of Moldovan citizens.
