Candu: New Law on Local Public Finances will be implemented from next year

The lawmakers are examining the bill with amendments to the Law on Local Public Finances and will pass it in the final reading by the end of November so that the law can be implemented from next year, Deputy Speaker Adrian Candu said in a meeting with Swedish Ambassador to Moldova Ingrid Tersman, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the Parliament.

In the meeting, the officials discussed the local public finances, the draft budgetary-fiscal policy and the 2014 State Budget Law. Ingrid Tersman underlined the importance of the given law for ensuring the financial autonomy of the local authorities and the effort made to draft this bill, including with support from foreign experts.

The officials also discussed the legislative agenda for the autumn session, the sociopolitical developments in Moldova and the implementation of the European agenda by the Vilnius EaP Summit.

The Swedish Ambassador said that the Government of Sweden provides support to the fiscal authorities to help them modernize by its development programs.

Adrian Candu reiterated that the Moldovan authorities continue to count on Sweden’s assistance in the implementation of the institutional reforms, especially in the justice sector and for fighting corruption.
