Candu, Bodrug were named constitutionally to parliamentary posts

The decisions to appoint Democratic MP Andrian Candu and Liberal reformer Oleg Bodrug as Deputy Heads of Parliament are in accordance with the constitutional norms. The Constitutional Court on February 4 ruled that the challenge filed by the Communist Party is groundless.

The Communist MPs said the Deputy Speakers were named without consulting the Communist and Liberal factions. Also, the bill was included in the agenda in breach of the regulations. It was added during the debates.

Under the Parliament’s regulations, the Deputy Speakers are designated at the suggestion of the Head of Parliament, after consulting the parliamentary groups, by open vote, with a majority of votes.

Andrian Candu and Oleg Bodrug were appointed as Deputy Speakers on May 30, last year.
