Candu and Strelet invite protesters to discussions

Head of Parliament Andrian Candu and Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet on September 10 invited the representatives of the people protesting in the Great National Assembly Square to discussions. The meeting with the Premier is to take place in the Government Building at 11am, while that with the Speaker – in the Parliament Building – at 3pm.

Contacted by IPN, the head of the Council of the Great National Assembly Andrei Nastase said that he received an invitation by phone from the Speaker’s spokesman, not yet from the Premier. “My personal opinion is that we should go and discuss, even if we yesterday said that we will no longer go on pilgrimage,” he stated, noting that a decision will be taken in the Council’s meeting that is set to start at 10am. “I don’t know why everything is done separately, not as we asked – for all of them to come together for a common discussion with us.”

Today, September 10, is the fifth day of protesting in the Great National Assembly Square. The September 6 protest involved, according to the organizers, about 100,000 people. After this protest, the people decided to remain in the Square and pitched tents there. The protesters demand holding early parliamentary elections.
