Candu about lawsuit filed against Nikiforchuk: “It’s a waste of time and money”

The leader of Pro Moldova Andrian Candu withdrew the complaint he field to court against his former party mate Eugeniu Nikiforchuk after the latter accused him of buying the MPs who left the Democratic Party for €150,000-250,000. Candu, who wanted to defend his honor and dignity through court, gave up for the reason that he would spend a lot of money on the services of lawyers, IPN reports.

Andrian Candu noted that he withdrew four lawsuits filed against former party mates Eugeniu Nikiforchuk, Alexandru Jizdan, Monica Babuc, and Pavel Filip after he earlier accused them of making defamatory statements against him.

“I and the lawyers examined the cases and I realized that I will incur large costs in time and will not gain something significant instead and that the trials will last endlessly. I’m involved in trials with TV channels that have lasted for six-seven years. I’ve spent money on legal services and didn’t even reach the Appeals Court,” the politician stated in the program “Black Box” on TV8 channel.

In May 2020, Candu asked the court of law to defend his honor, dignity and professional reputation and to oblige those involved to publicly deny the defamatory assertions and apologize. But he changed his mind meanwhile.

“I will defend my honor about which I care a lot by other ways than through the court of law – by my performance, by communication. It is a purely procedural matter. I didn’t seek damages, but will spend a lot of money and it’s not worth the effort,” argued Andrian Candu.

In March 2020, former Democratic MP Eugeniu Nikiforchuk in a TV program said that Andrian Candu paid sums of €150,000 to €250,000 to the MPs who left the Democratic Party and a monthly bonus of €5,000. Andrian Candu denied all the accusations.
