Candidates of ALDE, PAS and Chance present priorities at new round of debates “I want to be a mayor”

The candidate for mayor of Chisinau of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe Arina Spătaru promised to root out corruption in Chisinau and later all over the country. For his part, the Party of Action and Solidarity’s candidate Lilian Carp promised to stop the phenomenon of unauthorized constructions in Chisinau, while Martina Tauber, who represented the Chance Party’s candidate Cristina Vulpe, said that infrastructure projects similar to those implemented by the Shor team in Orhei and the ATU Gagauzia will be launched in Chisinau. The three candidates presented their priorities in a new round of debates “I want to be a mayor” on ProTV Chisinau, IPN reports.

Arina Spataru said the objective of her party is to fight political corruption and the illegal financing schemes designed by fugitive politician Ilan Shor. Her meeting in Israel with convict Ilan Shor took place under the guidance of officers of the National Anticorruption Center.

“As from April 14, when we wrote a denouncement against Shor, I became a witness in a criminal case in which I cooperated with the NAC. When I travelled to Israel, I did it in close cooperation with the NAC. When I returned home, as a witness, together with my husband, I showed the road, the address. I saw Nesterovschi in Shor’s office and saw his diabolic plans to finance the politics in the Republic of Moldova with money from the Kremlin. I returned and had discussions with Missis Veronica Dragalin. I travelled to Israel as a witness from the very beginning,” stated Arina Spătaru.

Lilian Carp said that as the mayor of Chisinau, he will stop the phenomenon of illegal constructions in Chisinau and the adoption by Parliament of the new Urban Planning Code will be a first step in this direction.

“In Chisinau, during four years, they agreed controversial zonal urban development plans. The PAS group on the CMC even went to court to prove that a part of these zonal plans were approved illegally. In Parliament, we gave a first reading to a new Urban Planning Code of the Republic of Moldova which clearly regulates how these plans should be adopted. I’m the sponsor of the bill that stipulates criminal liability for illegal working out documents as a simple fine cannot bring things in this area in order,” stated Lilian Carp.

Marina Tauber, who represented Cristina Vulpe, said the Chance Party aims to implement a project to modernize school infrastructure, to set up street lighting and to asphalt streets.

“We prefer to show concrete results. I refer to what we already did in Orhei district, in Gagauzia, in Taraclia and other localities. The projects of the candidate we support are mainly projects that are palpable in other localities. The people from Chisinau definitely expect here good roads, public lighting, equipped kindergartens. Ilan Shor officially stated that we support those from the Chance Party. We believe their program is very good and, as we have proper cooperation with them, we will implement these projects together,” stated Marina Tauber.

The debates are organized by ProTV Chisinau channel in partnership with Promo-LEX Association, the Association “Journalistic Investigations Center”, the independent online publication “NewsMaker”, “My Mayor’s Office” Association, IPN News Agency and the portal “Privesc.eu”.
