The deadline for the submission of the documents needed for registering candidates for mayor in the localities were new local elections are to take place is August 6, IPN reports, with reference to the Central Election Commission (CEC).
In a press release, the CEC says the candidates must be citizens of the Republic of Moldova with the right to vote who turned 25, including on the election day, and do not have any restrictions in exercising the right to elect and be elected.
Until now, the electoral council of the electoral constituency Nucăreni of Telenești district received two files, while the electoral council of the electoral constituency Târnova of Dondușeni district – only one file.
The CEC decided that new local mayoral elections in Târnova and Nucăreni villages will be held on September 6. In both of the cases, the post of mayor became vacant after the mayors tendered their resignations following their election as heads of Dondușeni district and, respectively, of Telenești district.
