Members of the Public Association “Moldova Mea”, who live in Baltata village of Criuleni district, said one of the candidates for the local mayoralty used the services of a hypnotist in order to influence the voters.
In a news conference at IPN, the Association’s head Fiodor Ghelici said that he saw all kinds of things in the election campaigns so far, but it is for the first time that he heard about the use of hypnosis for influencing the voters. At start, he laughed at what he heard, but when he travelled to the village and met with locals, he was astounded at what he was told.
Local councilor Valentina Serafimiciuc said it happened several days ago. The person who used the services of a hypnotist is the suspended mayor of the village, who is running for a new term. The villagers were angry owing to the problems faced by the community, but they suddenly changed their attitude after an electoral meeting with the given candidate, which was attended by a hypnotist.
Valentina Serafimiciuc also said that a number of women neighbors of hers complained that they feel ill after that meeting and do not remember very well what happened there.
Fiodor Ghelici stated that the given candidate is investigated within a number of criminal cases. The police are conducting investigations. As to the use of the services of a hypnotist, the activist said he will inform the Central Election Commission about this.
