Campaigning for the October 30 presidential elections can be started only after September 29, when the election campaign for all the registered electoral competitors begins. According to Veaceslav Agrigoroae, secretary of the Central Election Commission (CEC), campaigning is allowed not earlier than 30 days before the election day.
Contacted by IPN, the CEC secretary said that if the candidates are registered as election runner before September 29, they will have to wait until October to start to campaign.
Also, the candidates that will present the subscription lists to the CEC on September 29, which is the time limit, assume the risk of starting the election campaign later as the verification of signatures and registration as electoral competitors take up to seven days.
So far only the Democratic Party submitted the signatures collected in support of its candidate for President Marian Lupu to the CEC.
