The campaign to inform the voters about the electoral process, carried out by the Center for Continuous Electoral Training working under the Central Election Commission, has come to an end. The last two events - the PROMObus and illumination of the Triumphal Arch by the colors of the tricolor - took place in Chisinau on June 12, IPN reports.
The Center’s director Natalia Iuras said the preliminary findings of the campaign show activities should be carried out to inform the voters, especially the young ones. The activities carried out during the two-week campaign were welcomed by the people. In different towns, the people took an active part in the contests on electoral subjects, staged by the volunteers.
“We hope we will yet organize civic and electoral education activities so that the people are even better prepared for the next elections. In 2011 we also carried out informative activities, but the campaign was shorter and we visited fewer settlements. This year we managed to reach all the districts of the country,” stated Natalia Iuras. She noted that during the two weeks, discussions with locals were held in all the settlements and the people were rather welcoming.
Natalia Iuras also said that the Center for Continuous Electoral Training will not wait for the next elections to stage informative activities. It will make field trips between election campaigns too so that the people are better informed and analyze things before casting their ballots. Visits will be also made to universities and colleges so as to involve as many young people in the electoral process as possible.
About 5,000 people took part in the Center’s activities during the 14-day campaign.
