Campaign to change people’s perception of corruption

A motivational video clip and a series of short movies will be disseminated online to change the people’s perception of corruption in Moldova. The National Anticorruption Center, with the assistance of the United Nations Development Program and the Government of Norway, on September 20 launched the nationwide communication campaign “Integrity is freedom”, IPN reports.

National Anticorruption Center vice director Cristina Tarna told a news conference that it is time for all the citizens of the Republic of Moldova to start to think about the phenomenon of corruption in a different way and to look at it from a different perspective than the usual one. The campaign will provide information about the integrity obligations of the political class, business entities, public servants and public institutions.

The video clip and the short movies were made in the form of lessons given by actor Boris Cremene. Each lesson starts with examples about the people’s mentality and perception of situations when they have to be corruption and the rules used in such cases. “We will inform the people about how they should be treated in public institutions and what type of approach should be there in public institutions and what are their responsibilities before the people,” stated Cristina Tarna.

“The coordinated measures to prevent corruption are often more efficient than the combating of the consequences of this phenomenon. These are essential for increasing in the long run the people’s confidence in the capacity and will of the state to promote and implement reforms for the people’s benefit,” said Olga Crivoliubic, manager of the project “Strengthening the Corruption Prevention and Analysis Functions of the National Anticorruption Center”.
