Call to take part in cleanup activities on World Cleanup Day

The Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment calls on the local public authorities and civil society to take an active part in community cleanup activities to eliminate waste of any kind stored in an uncontrolled way. The call was made in connection with the World Cleanup Day that is celebrated on September 23, IPN reports, with reference to a press release of the Ministry.

The World Cleanup Day was established by the UN in partnership with Clean Up the World in 1993. The Ministry calls on the people to become involved in works to clean street drains and banks of waterways.

The Ministry reminds about the waste management strategy of Moldova, whose goal is to develop the infrastructure and services needed to appropriately protect the environment and people’s health, to work out the necessary legal and institutional framework so as to support the gradual adjustment of the national waste management practices to the EU’s. Under the document, integrated waste management will be instituted until 2025 to prevent environmental pollution and to sustainably use natural resources.
