The chairman of the commission for public control of the President’s Civil Society Council Fiodor Ghelici, together with a group of parents, call on the embassies working in Moldova to help rehabilitate the Russian lyceum “Mikhail Lomonosov”, IPN reports.
In a news conference at IPN, Fiodor Ghelici said the lyceum is in a bad state of repair. “When it rains, the library is inundated. In winter, the children will get frozen because the windows date back from Lenin’s time. I understand why parents do not want to enroll their children at this school,” stated Fiodor Ghelici.
He noted that the budget funds are used irrationally. The companies that won the tender contest to supply food products to the lyceum apply prices that are higher than the market ones. The shortage of teachers in education institutions is another problem.
NGO member Iurie Verdes told the same news conference that the education system in general needs to be reviewed. “Our children do not enjoy high-quality education and the low Baccalaureate exam pass rate is due to this. We can speak about the genocide of our people. The population is subject to degradation when the level of education decreases,” stated Iurie Verdes.
Fiodor Ghelici called on the authorities to open a bank account to which donations for the Lyceum “Mihhail Lomonosov” could be made.
