Representatives of civil society, who formed an initiative group named Eurovision Junior Song Contest, called on the organizers of the national pre-selection to ensure transparency in the process of selecting Moldova’s representative at this contest and to remove the shortcomings identified the previous years.

The initiative group referred to the fact that the members of the jury didn’t take into account the results of the televoting when calculating the final points and didn’t broadcast the event. As the contest wasn’t announced beforehand, few children came to the pre-selection.

“We ask taking steps to remove the identified problems so that the participation of Moldova in the  Eurovision Junior 2013is not compromised and the country’s image is not affected,” it is said in a petition to the organizers that was read in a news conference at IPN.

Mircea Manzarari, a member of the initiative group, said that if the petition is neglected, they will go to court. Many of the countries that will take part in this year’s contest already know their representative, while in Moldova the pre-selection hasn’t yet taken place.

Iulia Braga, parent of a child who took part in the pre-selection last year, said the contest was announced several days beforehand. For a child, it is practically impossible to prepare a song in such a short period of time. “It is enormous work. Time is needed for preparation,” stated the woman.

People’s Artist Vasile Morosanu, who is a member of the initiative group Eurovision Junior Contest, said there are many talented children in Moldova who deserve being promoted.

This year Moldova will take part in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest for the fourth time. The contest will take place on November 30.
