A group of intellectuals and representatives of the "Reunification" Round Table, who support Boris Volosatîi as candidate for mayor of the capital, urged the unionist and right-wing parties to join forces. Additionally, the intellectuals urged these groups to commence a dialogue in order to support a single unionist candidate for the mayoral position of the capital .
„On behalf of the Round Table, we have put forward Dr. Boris Volosatîi's candidacy to the post of general mayor of Chișinău municipality. Mr. Volosatîi is the head of an important and renowned educational institution. He is a big political actor and a good manager. He held the function of city councilor several times. We came to the conclusion that Mr. Boris Volosatîi knows the problems of the municipality and has solutions for them. However, this is not our only concern. We are concerned with the preservation and promotion of Chișinău as the second Romanian capital”, the "Reunification" Round Table moderator, historian Anatol Petrencu, said during an IPN news conference.
The historian Ion Negrei considers that these local elections are the most disorganized, because the political parties have not prepared for a responsible election. According to him, the intellectuals have previously called for the unification of national right-wing forces into a single bloc or movement. Unfortunately, their call fell on deaf ears. "Once again, we urge right-wing forces to coordinate and consolidate in these local elections in order to win", said Ion Negrei. The historian added that the large number of candidates for the mayoral seat implies that the right wing is set to fail. Due to these circumstances, the intellectuals issue a message of unity, as to appoint a single right-wing candidate with winning chances.
Vasile Costiuc, president of Democracy at Home Party, group that put forward Boris Volosatîi's candidacy, said that he considers that Boris Volosatîi' will continue to instill Nicolae Costin's, first mayor of Chișinău, national values and patriotic Romanian traditions. Vasile Costiuc expressed his belief that, as mayor, Boris Volosatîi will implement Nicolae Costin's program and project for the capital. "Once again, we call for the right-wing parties, even after registration in the electoral race, to come and to sit at a round, square, triangular table, without cameras, and to discuss whether we at least are aware of the risks were are facing”, said Vasile Costiuc.
Valentina Meşina, "Reunification" Round Table representative, issued her support for Boris Volosatîi in this race and issued the same unity call to all right-wing parties. "He is a candidate that can truly represent all the Unionist forces with dignity", said Valentina Meşina.
Boris Volosatîi said that he would accept the proposal of the Round Table with great responsibility and added that he will continue the projects started by Nicolae Costin, "the first mayor and the only democrat of this capital, who, as an intelligent reformer and builder, returned the tricolor, the Romanian language, the Latin spelling, the names of streets and schools". "The knowledge brought by my university professor, Nicolae Costin, will be the centerpiece of my term. I will lead a different type of politics - one that focuses on the issues of the residents of Chișinău, not on geopolitics. I come to mobilize all those who feel and think Romanian”, said Boris Volosatîi, candidate for mayor of the capital.
