Independent candidate for MP in single-member constituency No. 33, suburban localities of Chisinau, Călin Vieru said the press reports that he was a member of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) or co-founder of the National Unity Party (PUN) are false as he never been party member or co-founder.
In a news conference at IPN, Călin Vieru said in 2009 he joined the PLDM in order to take part in the anti-Communist crusade together with Serafim Urecheanu, Mihai Ghimpu and the Democratic Party. “We struggled not long and we won. The road to power was opened for Mister Filat and was covered with rose petals. We took over and, after the ordeal of the 1990s-2000s, we entered the cancan that started in 2009 and goes on,” stated Călin Vieru. The former MP also said that being a member of the group of the PLDM, in 2009-2010 he entered a full obedience regime. “For the Prime Minister of that time, things became very clear. Everyone was treated as a servant. He accepted only informers or executors. Posts started to be sold and thefts started to be committed,” stated Călin Vieru, noting that when he was offered to take part in the illegalities at Banca de Economii, he refused and vacated his seat of MP. He didn’t male public this information then because he didn’t have evidence as he was only offered to take a loan in very good conditions.
Călin Vieru said that during the past ten years he was offered posts at different parts, from secretary, vice president to even president, but he rejected all the offers. He hasn’t been the member of a party as this means being a servant for the masters. He wasn’t taught to be a flunky. He decided to run in the elections of February 24 guided by the cause of freedom and the ideal of bringing Moldova back to the family of European countries through the union with Romania, which is the shortest path.
Asked what he thought about his opponents in the constituency were he runs, Călin Vieru said he respects Andrei Năstase, the candidate of the bloc ACUM, but does not consider him a man predestined to lead an army. “I don’t think he is the one who will take over, will conduct, order and will be listened to. On the other hand, he made anti-unionist statements that I cannot accept and e also danced a brotherly round dance with Dodon, Usatyi, the exponents of Putin,” stated the candidate. As to the Democratic Party’s candidate Constantin Țuțu, Călin Vieru said this is a miracle maker and road builder. “If I had this flow of money that comes from the PDM, I would turn Băcioi into a sea port and Chisinau would become an exotic island,” he stated. He also said that independent candidate Andrei Năstas is a valueless candidate, while independent Boris Volosatyi is an eminent teacher who pleads the national caus. He noted he does not know the other candidates - Ion Bivol of the Shor Party, Vladimir Roșca of the Party of Socialists and Ion Duca of Our Party.
