Cahul will be the next Youth Capital

The city of Cahul will take on the title of the 2012 National Youth Capital on February 2. According to Andrei Enachi, senior adviser at the Ministry of Youth and Sport, this title offers opportunities for the youth to engage more actively in social and cultural projects during the whole year. “We need this symbol to change the atmosphere and transfer activities from the capital to district centers. The goal of these events is to involve the youth in local activities because the districts miss their participation”, Andrei Enachi told Info-Prim Neo. Cahul will develop a plan of activities that will engage especially the youth, but also the elderly people. International NGOs and youth councils from other countries will be invited to participate as well. The opening of the event is scheduled for 12.15 PM. Official delegations will attend the exhibition of works of the fine arts school and of the industrial-pedagogic college in Cahul. After the exhibition, a ceremony will be organized in the Big Hall of the Palace of Culture, at 1 PM, at will end with an artistic program. The contest National Youth Capital is at its 2nd edition. Each year, a Moldovan town is selected to become the national focus of youth activities. The first town to get the title was Ungheni.
