An international documentary film festival called MOLDOX will be held in Moldova for the first time. Cahul town will host it on September 25-29. The event’s organizers, who are people of art from Cahul, told a news conference that the goal of the festival is to encourage social involvement through documentaries. MOLDOX aims to create a platform for collecting information about activities. Experimented documentary filmmakers from Moldova and abroad will stage workshops, masterclasses and seminars for youth. The film screenings, activities with local authorities and NGOs and workshops of the first edition will center on such subjects as exodus, freedom of expression, land and people, IPN reports.
Mariana Turcan, who is responsible for communication within the event, told the journalists that the idea of organizing the festival appeared several years ago and the decision to hold it in Cahul was taken also because they aim to bring European practices to the local level.
Film director from Cahul Maxim Carlan said the visitors of MOLDOX will be able to see some of the best social documentaries of the world and to take part in different activities, workshops and masterclasses intended for all those who want to generate social changes by the power of the documentary film. Each film screening will be followed by discussions and calls for action.
Among the special invitees of the event will be Romanian writer and publicist Vasile Ernu, Moldovan film director Ana-Felicia Scutelnicu, DJ and music producer from Cahul Vika Jigulina, Moritz Siebert from Germany who directed the film “Those who jump”, Rokhsareh Ghammaghami from Iran who made the film “Sonita”, and Vlad Petri from Romania who made the film “Bucharest, where are you?”.
The film screenings and activities will take place at the Palace of Culture in Cahul. Entrance is free of charge. The films will be shown in the original with Romanian subtitles.
