Cahul inaugurated as Youth Capital 2018

The ceremony to inaugurate Cahul as the Youth Capital 2018 was held in the evening of February 22. Secretary of State at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research Radu Rebeja said that after a period of five years Cahul became again the Youth Capital and this choice shows that the young people from this town are ambitious, motivated and full of ideas, IPN reports.

The municipality of Cahul was designated the Youth Capital 2018 on August 12, 2017, when it is celebrated International Youth Day.

It is an initiative borrowed from the European Youth Forum. The goal of the Youth Capital is to ensure the creation of multilateral development opportunities for young people so that these take part in the economic, social and cultural life of the country and to develop communities by engaging the youth.

The status of Youth Capital was earlier held by the towns: Ungheni – 2011, Cahul – 2012, Ialoveni – 2013, Soroca – 2014, Sangerei – 2015, Ialoveni – 2016 and Varnita –2017.
