Cahul hosting Hasdeu Days

A series of scientific and cultural events to mark the 100th death anniversary of the great Romanian scholar Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu are taking place in the city of Cahul between November 19 and 20. The project is a joint effort of several educational establishments and cultural institutions in Cahul district bearing the name of Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu. The organisers wish to highlight Hasdeu’s contribution to the Romanian history, philosophy and literature. One of the most important events of the project is the scientific conference themed “B.P.Hasdeu – A Century of Immortality”, to take place on Tuesday at the Cahul-based State University B.P. Hasdeu. The local academic community and students as well as scholars from Chisinau are expected to take part in the conference. The project Hasdeu Days in Cahul is implemented by the Association for Cooperation and Democratic Communication DIALOG, Cahul, with financial support of the Romanian Cultural Institute. Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu was a Romanian writer and philologist, who pioneered many branches of Romanian philology and history. Hasdeu is considered to have been able to understand 26 languages and freely converse in many of them.
