Cahul City Council elects deputy mayors
The councilmen in Cahul elected the three mayors of the city, following relatively long negotiations, the Cahul-based Univers FM radio reported, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
The deputy mayor’s seats were split between three parties: the Democratic Party – Tamara Papana; Communist Party – Gheorghe Ghetivu; and the Republican People’s Party – Petru Popazu. The proposal was accepted almost unanimously, with the exception of the unaffiliated councilman Nicolae Danis, who abstained from voting the communist candidate.
Of the 35 Cahul councilmen elected on June 3, eleven represent the ruling party, eight the Moldova Noastra Alliance Party, by four for the Christian-Democrat People’s Party and the Republicans, by three for the Democrats and Social-Liberals, one councilman on behalf of PRR Electoral Bloc, and one unaffiliated councilman. The Mayor of Cahul is Gheorghe Zagorodnii, on behalf of PCRM.
